Project Manger

Would suit a candidate with 10 years experience in either or the ‘soft landscaping’ or ‘civil/ bio-engineering’ industry. The successfully candidate will be educated to ‘A’ level or equivalent and may suit an ambitious candidate wishing to make the transition from site supervision to project management.

AGA Group is a specialist design/build company that operates in the Bio/civil engineering sector from its base near Thetford, Norfolk. AGA employ teams of skilled bio-engineering and landscape technicians alongside operatives with civil engineering skill sets. The company operates throughout the UK providing design & construction services with a “concept to completion” mentality. Schemes that we are involved in range from river restoration, erosion control, river engineering works and lake construction and restoration in all its forms.

AGA are seeking Project Managers to deliver its programme of freshwater and terrestrial habitat restoration works and soft landscape projects. The posts are full-time and permanent positions within the management team.

The Company operates nationally, so the post will require travel to many areas of the UK with overnight stays to facilitate the management of project operations.

The successful applicant will play a key role in the company’s development plan with the aim of progressing to a more senior role in the future, on-going training will be provided.

As a long-established environmental contractor with increasing demand for our services, we are currently seeking two motivated and experienced project managers to play a central role within the company.


To lead the day-to-day running and co-ordination of members of the operations team on construction projects and working with and reporting directly to the Construction Director.

To provide project management support for river habitat restoration, wetland and bio-engineering projects, from initial site visit through to preparation of proposals, report documents, technical drawings, client liaison and briefing of project installation teams. Projects will require specific project management and have a requirement for a mixture of daily/weekly site attendance.


Our project managers report directly to the Construction Director, however, due to the varied nature of the role and tasks involved, close liaison with other members of the consultancy and operation teams is essential.


Project management including organisation of programme and delivering projects to time and budget. A non-exhaustive list of duties may include:

Assist Construction Director and support consultants with management tasks as required.

Ensure that work meets all relevant legislative standards including Health & Safety and environmental requirements.

Responsible for Health & Safety on-site. Ensuring construction conforms to all H&S legislation and updates; and preparation/updates to method statements, risk assessments and other site documentation.

Ensure that projects are completed to satisfaction of client.

Team Supervision; managing and motivating team members and successful communication of information, method statements and design drawings etc; and liaising with consultants and engineers as necessary on design changes/updates.



  • Understand small business functions and have an appreciation of ecology, bio and civil engineering;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Physically fit and able to swim;
  • Full clean driving licence;
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team player;
  • Self-motivated and capable of working unsupervised;
  • Creative/articulate/innovative.
  • CSCS Card preferably SMSTS qualified.
  • 4+ years of relevant construction experience;
  • Good communication and written skills are essential;
  • Interested in the natural environment and management;


  • Previous construction plant experience; and SSSTS or SMSTS Site Management Safety Training Scheme would be an advantage (however training will be provided to gain this qualification).
  • A minimum of 5+ years’ work experience;
  • Previous on-site construction experience.


Salary: Starting circa £40,000 pa depending on and commensurate with experience; to be discussed on an individual basis. Benefits package including company car. Training will be provided as required.

Groundworks/Bioengineering Supervisor

AGA Group are a nationally recognised leading Bioengineering contractor who specialise in projects in the aquatic environment, and also landscaping and civil projects. The company undertakes contracts across the UK from its base in Watton, Norfolk. Those who have worked in the groundworking or commercial soft landscaping industries as a supervisor may be suited.

You must be physically fit, with full driving licence, and the ability to stay away from home during the working week when required, as most projects take place outside of Norfolk (hotel accommodation booked and paid for by AGA).SSSTS Certificate required, with a willingness to learn whilst on the job. Excellent communication, numeracy, and literacy. Aptitude to give and receive instruction whilst supervising a 3-4 man team, and working within strict deadlines, reporting to the Project Manager. Previous supervisory or team leader experience a distinct advantage.

Starting salary £21,000- £26,000 commensurate with experience.

Aquatic Landscaper/Ground worker Operative

AGA carry out landscaping and construction in a variety of environments in the public and private sector with a large amount of the work involving freshwater such as rivers and lakes. This position is suitable for landscape and /or groundwork operatives. We are based at our depot in Norfolk and work throughout the UK. You must be prepared to work away from home Monday-Friday when required (accommodation is booked and paid for by the company, which may be in a shared room) and a £20 per night Lodge Payment is paid for this. You must have held your full driving licence for at least two years, hold a current CSCS card and have at least one year’s general labouring experience. Plant tickets would also be an advantage.

Salary: £19,500 – £24,500 p.a.

Excavator Operator

Due to continuous growth we are looking to expand upon our team of Excavator Operators with work being based on sites around the UK.


We are looking for experienced 360 Excavator operators who hold valid blue CPCS cards. Candidates are also required to have piling experience. In return we can offer full time ongoing work with a salary of £24,000-£29,000 per year plus overtime dependent upon experience. The job holder will often be required to stay away from home during the week depending on the location of the project. Accommodation is booked and paid for by AGA Group (rooms may be shared) and an additional ‘lodge’ payment of £20 per night is also paid.
