In 1922, the Memorial Field was gifted to the town to commemorate the soldiers of the First World War.

Saxmundham Town Council, in consultation with the British Legion, are commemorating the 100th anniversary of this gift by landscaping the entrance, installing memorial gates, a plinth and benches for quiet reflection, along with planting and additional trees.

The plinth has been donated to the project by DS Memorials in Saxmundham.

The work will commence in early September and is due for completion by mid-October. There will be a dedication service in November.
