Aquatic Plants Nursery

Specialists in marginal pond plants

To ensure the best possible quality we nurture our own aquatic plants at our private nursery in Norfolk.

The site is known as Merton Hall Ponds. Merton Hall itself is a beautiful, Jacobean style country house with a long history dating back to 1613. We operate independently of the hall, although rather quirkily, our offices are in what used to be the old potting sheds of the walled garden.

Marginal pond plants (sometimes referred to as emergent plants) are the plants best suited for the shallow edges of a pond or lake (the “margins”). We use marginal aquatic plants in our vegetated coir rolls and coir pallets.

So much more than looking aesthetically pleasing, pond plants play a crucial role in the ecology of still water.

Benefits include the provision of habitats, serving as a substrate for spawning and acting as a food source.

Plants also filter, purify and oxygenate the water, regulating the nitrogen cycle. Furthermore, plants help limit erosion, whilst the roots add strength to shorelines and banks. Basically, aquatic plants are amazing!

We’re not open to the public, but you’re welcome to visit by appointment.
